Our Mission: Innovative Programming with a Far-Reaching Impact

Dear Sorors and Visitors,

Welcome to the website home of North Manhattan Alumnae Chapter (NMAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.!

I extend to you abundant greetings on behalf of the dedicated Sorors of NMAC.  We are delighted to have you visit our website and with just a few clicks of the mouse read about the history of our beloved sorority and also learn about some of the exciting new and ongoing programs and initiatives underway in our chapter.

Chartered in 1980, NMAC services and supports the culturally rich and diverse community of Northern Manhattan.  We are a chapter dedicated to the vision of our 22 illustrious founders of a sisterhood deeply committed to excellence, guided by scholarship and public service, and rooted in Christian principles.

Building upon this tradition and recognizing the needs of the local and global communities we serve, NMAC is committed to programming that lifts up and shines a light on the promise and hope that exists and ultimately leads to meaningful benefits to the community and the enhancement of the quality of life.  After 27 years, we remain recharged, renewed, and committed to strengthening those bonds.

Our mission, “ innovative programming with a far-reaching impact, “ is the impetus by which we offer valuable programming in such critical areas as health, education, financial fortitude, social action, international awareness, community empowerment, and the arts and letters. Foremost is a commitment to “Our future—Our youth” through our annual scholarship program for college bound achieving young women, promotion of education and arts excellence, and the laying of a foundation of fundamental leadership and life skills through our premiere Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy and Delta GEMS, a new initiative focused on teenage girls.

Finally, our public service cannot thrive without the support from people like you. Therefore, we invite you to come out and support us at our local events and programs and in doing so feel a sense of joy at knowing you contributed to doing  “good works” for the community.

Bookmark our website and visit us often for updates, highlights, photos, and information about our programs and initiatives. Feel free to also contact us for more information about the sorority, our chapter, and the work we do.

Thank you for visiting our website home!
