MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a non-profit, public service organization. Founded on January 13, 1913, on the campus of Howard University by 22 college-educated women. It is a non-profit, public service organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service and social action. Delta Sigma Theta has played an active role in communities for over 100 years, and remains at the forefront of evoking change around the world.
Chartered on December 13, 1980, the North Manhattan Alumnae Chapter continues to make an impact on the lives and communities within the Washington Heights area and beyond. Through service and advocacy, North Manhattan Alumnae Chapter has demonstrated that Delta is a movement, not a monument. This chapter charges itself to deliver Innovative Programming With a Far-Reaching Impact. Now more than ever, we take great pride in being present partners focused on addressing the current and emergent needs of the communities we serve through strategic and collaborative programs. These programs are developed under the sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:

Some of the chapter’s notable programs and activities include: The Annual Health Symposium and Backpack Jam; Social Action Initiatives which empower, promote and protect the rights & privileges of every human being; Building Financial Fortitude with workshops focused on increasing financial literacy, awareness and preparedness; Supporting local initiatives including the Fort Fridge with Fort Washington Collegiate Church, Homeless Outreach with The Church of the Good Shepherd and nurturing mothers and families with El Nido de Esperanza; Advancing the computer skills our communities in partnership with Google via our Grow With Google initiatives; Awarding Scholarships - North Manhattan Alumnae Chapter has given over $300,000 to over 50 students who have attended over 35 colleges and universities throughout the United States.
North Manhattan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated remains committed to exemplifying the Sorority’s biennial theme, “Moving Forward with Fortitude: Engaging Our Sisterhood, Empowering Our Communities, Elevating Our Impact.” NMAC is home to over 200 sorors and if you are a soror looking for a chapter to call home, we invite you to join us.
